Geodemography

A part of the population has a special need for Nursing and care. For by far the most, it is age-related, and the majority of this type are indeed over 75 years old. Most live alone but together with others, and they may very well have done so for a while. They live in a specially arranged senior dwelling; either a sheltered home or in a nursing home or a residential institution. It may also be that they receive home help in their own home several times a week.

The education level is typical for the ageing generation. Most have therefore made do with primary school, while a third have also completed a vocational education.

The income corresponds, for many, to the state pension and what they have saved up during their working life. If the wealth is not stored in the grandfather clock, it is surely in the bank or in bricks for those who still live in an owner-occupied home. We find Nursing and care in the working and middle class, but also in the lower class.

Most of them live in smaller homes or rooms, typically no more than 80 m². Around half still have a car available, but it is most often parked and has been so for a long time. Those who need extra Nursing and care do not need the car, but then children or grandchildren can borrow it when they need it.

The Gallup compas

The model on the right shows where the Conzoom type is positioned in relation to the Gallup Compass. The Gallup Compass is a segmentation tool that, based on value‑ and attitude‑based questions, provides nuanced insight into consumer behavior, values, and lifestyle. You can read more about this in the section below.

Behaviour, lifestyle and attitudes

Their everyday life is marked by a long and rich life with plenty of experiences. Now most of it takes place seated, and many entertain themselves with television, fiction books or Familie Journalen. When there is women's handball on TV, they can all agree on the channel choice. On a daily basis, the battle is between DR1, DR2 and TV 2. The preference is, however, so close that the three channels may very well end up competing for the screen most of the day.

When the remote control in the common room has ended up in the wrong hands, many choose instead to look at the membership magazines Ældre Sagen and Samvirke with P4 or classical music in the background. If Søndagsavisen or another local paper is just at hand, that is also fine. Here they dwell on the sections about travel, culture, health or the garden.

If they have access to a garden, and if the weather allows it, they are fond of being in it. Here they can potter about and give the plants a little Nursing and care. On a rainy day, however, they prefer to sit indoors with the knitting. A little manual work has never harmed, and it is a cosy way to keep going. If they can do exercise, it is the classic gymnastics exercises that are performed, especially if there is a little support to get going.

A great many of those who receive Nursing and care do not do their own shopping. So if you want to meet them out in society, you should look in past the church on Sunday or take a walk in the local park.

Apart from local and regional matters and EU affairs, politics is not something they follow that much. That does not mean that they have no attitude to society and the development they witness. They can agree that the world changes too quickly, and that traditional family values are under pressure. They increasingly think that globalisation is frightening, but they disagree about whether Denmark should be more open towards abroad or look after itself.

When one is oneself a little frail, modern technology can seem frightening, and they fear that it will come to take power away from people. That is perhaps also why they stay away from the digital. Up to a third have no access to e-Boks and only rarely use a computer.

In terms of values, Nursing and care are most often very Traditional. At the most recent election, most voted for the Social Democrats, but there was also a large overrepresentation of votes for the Conservatives and the Liberal Party (Venstre).
